The European
Week Eindhoven is a biennial event that will take place for the ninth
time, from March 26th to March 30th, 2007. During this event more
than 350 students from all over Europe, as well as 150 Dutch students
from the organizing team, gather to discuss various topics concerning
the development of Europe on the basis of a central theme. The European
Week Eindhoven 2007 will evolve around the theme: "European
Evolution: from a separate past to a united future".
Besides the lectures and workshops, the participants follow all kinds
of cultural events during the Week, such as a trip to Amsterdam, a
cultural festival and Eindhoven's biggest student party: the Auditorium
party!
European Evolution
Europe is an ever changing continent with a diverse population. Through
the years citizens of Europe worked and fought together as well as
against each other. Cities arose all over Europe changing the landscape
in each country. Borders have been moved back and forth through the
years. Step by step the present Europe has been formed: a Europe of
diversity, but also of unity. More and more countries expand their
horizon by cooperating, for example, in the field of economics, politics
and safety. Every nation has its own rules, but more and more, European
laws are playing a significant role.

During the week we will review Europe evolving through time while
contemplating the difference between the separate pasts and the road
to a united future. This process will be regarded from multiple points
of view while speakers share their vision of Europe's past and future.
Beside lectures about the development of Europe, multiple discussions
will be held to give participators the opportunity to
raise
their own voice to share their ideas and provide insight to every
person's perception of the evolution of Europe.
By the end of the week, participants will have acquired a wealth of
knowledge from which they can draw, in order to form their opinion
about the challenges and opportunities that the new European perspective
is creating.
How to participate
Despite the EWE's tradition of high-profile and prominent speakers
and the rich cultural program, the EWE will be free of charge. Because
of the many subscriptions and limited places, we are forced to make
a selection of people we can invite. For this reason you need our
invitation to participate in the EWE 2007. The deadline for application
is set on January 14th 2007. The participation form can be
found together with additional information at www.europeanweek.org.
