The fifth snowboard Euro cup took part in February in Kopaonik mountain
in Central Serbia. Organizers were sport union "Freestyler"
and snowboard club "Kobazz" from Belgrade.
Snowboarding, the sport with growing attention and importance in Serbia
incited many riders to come here, especially from other European countries.
- On Saturday, February 17th, we organized the competition in riding
snowboard in snowboard park called "Pančićev vrh" where
the boarders showed excellent bravery having competed in very bad
weather conditions due to the fog that lasted the whole day. This
year's best boarder in this competition is Anze Suša from Slovenia
- said Marko Nikolić, Secretary of Union "Freestyler".
It was pretty sunny the next day and the riders had the excellent
conditions for competing. There were more than 50 snowboarders from
foreign countries. Smit Sepe from Belgium, who gained the FIS scores
(the Intenational ski and snowboard federation), was the winner in
daily "slope style". In the evening competition, a significant
number of visitors have seen 15 best snowboarders from daily qualifications.
The winner was Nejc Ferijan from Slovenia, and he won the first prize
and 1000 euro money prize.
- And when we talk about Serbian snowboarders, Zolt Takach finished
14th in discipline "Big air", but we have not managed to
enter the first 15 in "Slope style"- said Marko Nikolić.
