This year, the event gathered 41 young journalists and editors from
13 European Countries and also from Palestine and Israel. While the
workshop from the last year focused on the developments of Web 2.0,
this one was under the heading "Dialogue Between Cultures",
focusing on freedom of the press after the Danish cartoons controversy,
religion and new spirituality and globalisation vs. homeland.
The official opening of the event took place in the first evening
at House of the Brandenburg-Prussian History and started with a public
panel discussion about: "Ethical guidelines for journalism in
Europe".
The next morning, participants had the opportunity to present the
projects they are involved in and afterwards they were divided in
three workshops to get deeper in the meaning of each topic of the
workshop. Each workshop started with a short input from the workshop
guest and afterwards the participants had the opportunity to add questions
and comments on the topic.
The visit of participants to the office of DW Arabic World in Berlin
was a good experience to get to know the people working there and
the projects they have.
The final day was a practical one. Participants had to produce reports
on the topics discussed in the workshops using different kind of media:
articles, photos, video movies. Most of them you can find on www.orangelog.eu,
in the section M100 Workshop.
The M100 Youth Media Workshop was organised by Potsdam Media International
in close cooperation with European Youth Press and Herbert-Quandt-Stiftung
within the framework of the M100 Sanssouci Colloquium.
