Web Fest is the first regional festival in southeastern Europe organized to promote Internet usage to the widest audience. It started in September 2007 and was lasting till the end of November when the winners were proclaimed.

Fest activities took place on four "fronts": first, Internet - submitting and voting for the best sites, communication through the site, forum discussions; second, lifestyle events - Fest opening, final event in the exclusive premises, awarding statuettes to the winners; third, seminars and workshops - addressing to the selected group of business professionals (seminars and workshops were led by the Serbian and foreign experts); fourth, media - Showcases and stories on TV stations, radio stations and press. Film, theater, media, science, sport, music and fashion people were "friends" of Web Fest and they brought additional quality for all events

Web Fest goals were to tract greater number of Internet users for direct contribution to the economical growth and development of the entire society. Also, education of the widest audience about practical and creative use of the Internet in ordinary life activities and business. Popularization through the cultural and entertaining content was very important part. Organizers tried to engage responsible leaders from country establishment to release great potentials that reside in a society which uses new technologies to the full extent and to stimulate qualitative advancement for the Internet based projects (target audience: web designers and web production companies) and perception of the importance and role of these projects for a group that has objective need for them (businessmen, managers, leaders).

Development of e-government by motivating population to use Internet services was one of the main goals and appointing Serbia as the central place in the region where the Internet is connected with business, culture, entertainment and art. Connecting creative people, artists, businessmen, managers and the widest population in an entirely new way will inevitably lead to the creation of new opportunities and ideas. Greater number of Internet end-users should result in the rise of investments in the IT area and more workplaces.

Award ceremony for the best web sites and internet marketing at the end of November marked the end of the fest. Audience award was determined by the votes collected via fest site while the main awards was granted according to the votes of the experts in jury.
