The Lisboa
Treaty officially signed on 13th December is intended to enter into
force on 1st January 2009. It contains a simplified
mechanism to adopt EU legislation and extend the Commission's competences
to new areas such as judicial co-operation. But the lack of transparency
can be the cost for the consensus and the text can be largely unreadable

5th to 7th December. About 250 delegates of the two continents agreed

is disappointing that the Stabilisation and Association Agreement is
misrepresented in the Serbian political debate," Ollie Rehn said
without mentioning names. "The process of European integration
and the process of Kosovo's status are two separate processes. The SAA
does not affect Serbia's territorial integrity since Kosovo's status
will be decided in another context"
