Organizers of Eurosong 2008 held the Draw in
Belgrade City Council to decide the order in which Eurosong performers
will take the stage at this year's contest. Serbia will host this
European song contest for the first time. About ten thousand people
from all over the continent are expected to attend the event in Belgrade,
and hundreds of millions viewers are expected to tune in on television.
General
manager of Serbian Broadcasting Company (RTS), Aleksandar Tijaniæ,
said, ''Organizing the Eurosong contest is the most complicated job
Serbia has ever accepted. The number of countries that will participate,
the number of tv viewers expected, and the price of the spectacle
will give Serbia a chance to show the world what we can do.''
Tickets have already been released, and you can buy packages to attend
all three nights or single tickets for each event. One single ticket
will cost from 1,000 to 5,000 dinars - about 12 to 80 euros.
This year, Eurosong modified the competition rules, which will see
Germany, Spain, France, Great Britain (founders of Eurosong) and Serbia,
who won last year's competition, go directly to the finals. Germany
and Spain will vote in the first semifinal, on May 20 and the remaining
three countries on the second night, May 22. Final evening is on May
24.
Montenegro, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Poland, Bosnia &
Herzegovina, Estonia, Netherlands, Romania, Moldova, San Marino, Slovenia,
Norway, Belgium, Andora, Armenia, Azerbeijan and Russia were chosen
by draw to compete in the first semifinal group on May 20. Croatia,
Denmark, Bulgaria, Portugal, Ukraine, Switzerland, Macedonia, Iceland,
Cyprus, Latvia, Belarus, Hungary, Albania, Sweden, Turkey, Lithuania,
Georgia, Czech Republic and Malta will sing two days later.
