No.18 April 2008 Editorial
Dear friends, the Spring
has come and we are every day closer and closer to hot sports' summer 2008. European
football championship will be held in Austria and Switzerland, Olympic Games are
in Beijing in August, all the teams are already preparing and the spectators are
ready to support their teams, on the stadiums or in front TV sets, doesn't matter.
Unfortunately, politics is again in sport, so covering of Olympics is more about
political situation in China, and suspension of European swimming champion and
recorder Milorad Cavic, only because of the message on his T-shirt, brought back
ideas of censorship. Sport shouldn't be mixed with politics, that's absolutely
clear, but is it the freedom of speech and democracy if you ban someone to express
his opinion, no matter if that's about economics, politics or science? It seems
only the most powerful guys can say what they think and usually try to convince
people they are the only who should speak.
Last month WAVE magazine crossed
the border of five-figures-number of unique visits and it was a great motivation
for our international team to keep on working and developing the whole project.
We are invited to European youth media conference in Budapest, we got offers for
international projects and the most important for us, we are recognized as an
important part of youth media scene. That's why we are thankful to our readers
for support that made us create better and better contents.
NATO summit
in Bucharest was the highlight of political scene and we offer you stories about
this meeting. Although our journalists were busy, the colleagues from other media
helped us with covering the event. Internet is more and more involved in all fields
of everyday's life, and the politics is not an exception. Take a look on impact
of Second Life on Italian elections. Some of you have already celebrated Easter,
some of us will do it soon, read about the meaning and importance of tradition
and religion. And St.Patrick's Day is celebrating every year in the whole world,
not only in Ireland. Our friends told us how they started with one website and
today they have a company and strategic partnership with Daily Mail. New technologies
are actual this month also with story about 3G mobiles and for relaxing we took
you to London and Gijon at the end.
Enjoy your reading!
