Santa's

Holiday story Christmas
- the old customs The only day during the year when most
of us wants to be at home, with our families, around the fireplace definitely
is Christmas. We all celebrate it in various ways, but the thing we all have in
common is men's primeval need for belonging, for not being alone and feeling that
even for just that one day we can be happy and united family Campaign

Politics European project
A Soul for
Europe? The central hall of the Dresdner Bank
representation in Berlin was filled with the air of enlightened thought when representatives
of politics, economy and the arts came together to seek the soul of Europe. Many
a splendid thought was elaborated upon - very few however, were inspiring enough
to give Europe a passionate soul. Nevertheless, nobody was short of ideas of what
Europe needs now... >>
Society Interview:
Nina Ađanin, mountain climber In
love with Himalayas Unlike other sports, mountain
climbing has no audience and no cameras. Ones who take mountain climbing as a
competition, do not respect the mountain law and remain forever on the mountain
slopes. The mountain respects you as much as you respect it. Yourself is the only
person you should compete against... >>
The smoking ban in The Netherlands A
real war Owners of businesses in the catering industry
are facing a difficult choice: leave the ashtrays and have customers come back
but and risk a fine or remove the ashtray, declining sales, but get no fines.
On the first sight the controls seem to be very strict, though many pub owners
noticed that if they put the ashtrays back the income will grow. Some shops put
a box in the bar with a message beside it: 'Dump some money for the fines'. They'll
pay it altogether... >>

Interview: Vladimir Grbić, actor About
Schiller's "Robbers" 'The Robbers' was
written in 18th century and it is considered to be the first melodrama ever. When
a modern man takes a play such as 'The Robbers', he cannot help but find
some things ridiculous, pathetic or dramaturgically problematic. We do not do
things the same way people 200 years ago did and vice versa. Therefore, the play
poses a dilemma: was Schiller jesting (if so, our production is adequate) or not.
If not, the mankind has changed greatly for the past 200 years and 'The Robbers'
must be performed in a different manner. This makes our production adequate, one
way or another... >>

Blogging used to be something fun, but today... The
End of Blogosphere There
are so many things way much better than blogs today that you'd be considered old-fashioned
if you blogged about something. Facebook, YouTube, and even Twitter are newer,
faster and better than blogs. You can make short updates on your routines, or
then post videos or talk to your friends through YouTube and Facebook. Why would
anyone need something so old and complicated such as a weblog? ... >>
Proteins Mystery
of our body Although
it is possible to deduce the primary structure of a protein from a gene's sequence,
its tertiary structure cannot be determined (although it should become possible
to make predictions when more tertiary sequences are submitted to databases).
It can only be determined by complex experimental analyses and, at present, this
information is only known for about 10% of proteins... >>
Sport Tennis
season 2008 - ATP Tour Change
on the Top Season that is just behind
us brought the switch on the top of ATP ranking list. Phenomenal Rafael Nadal
has proved his superiority in the mid-year and moved from the throne non-formal
king Roger Federer. Swiss has a task to do a good preparation for the next season
and attempt to return to the No.1, but now he has more competitors - Novak ?okovi?
is just behind, and very strong rivals are rising stars - Andy Murray as first,
but also Del Potro, Simon, Tsonga... ATP calendar is still a problem for many
players, and injuries were numerous, but there is only one change certain on that
map - from May 2009 ATP tournament is moving from Amersfort (Netherlands) to the
capital of Serbia - Belgrade... >>
