"WAVE" No.27
January 2009

Editorial

Dear friends,

we hope you had a nice time during holidays and we wish to you Happy New Year. Let 2009 be much better and happier than the last one, although predictions are not so shiny. And the start wasn't very good with "best wishes from Gazprom" and conflict in Eastern Europe that brought empty pipelines to the rest of the continent. Solution to this conflict is the best prove that all the problems should be solving with talks and negotiations instead of force or tough conditions.

That's why new year brings new arrangements to WAVE magazine. Our new partner comes from Paris - and whole Europe - European online magazine Café Babel. Still have to precise the deal, but it will surely be very positive step for both media. Also we are starting with EU Youth in Action projects with our old partners from Skopje, Macedonia and that means you will have more quality journalism in our magazine.

Topic of the issue is for sure gas crisis and Russia-Ukraine conflict. It's not the first time to get greeting card from Moscow, exactly for New Year, and we remind you of that by republishing article from February 2007. In Politics we bring you analysis on Serbian way towards European Union - first part. Dutch DJs had a charity action, but in Society you will also find analytical opinion on Youth and aggression. We announce to you International Student Week in Ilmenau - ISWI 2009, and present to you our new partners Café Babel - European online magazine. One more announcement comes about Belgrade Universiade. Financial crisis is here but FIAT and Zastava reached an agreement that should start this year. If you are more artistic, there is an article on Pixar cartoons, not only for the children. Playwright Harold Pinter has died at the end of 2008 and we bring you one inconvenient in memoriam. If you are tennis fan you will enjoy in Science and Sport sections - scientists have been researching on optical illusion and hawk eye system, and new season has started. If you think colours have influence on your behaviour you are right. Ski fans will read about "Herminator" from Austria - come back of Herman Maier. Finally, read on one more come back - music of nineties and turbo folk are popular again.

Enjoy your reading!
