No.28 February 2009 Editorial
Dear friends, global financial
crisis is not something we wanted to start new year with. But there was no choice.
Unemployment, bankrupts, financial measures to support banking system... are news
that come from different countries. Youth expect new opportunities but get new
troubles. That's why we have to give our best to create better world for ourselves
- if we don't do that nobody will make it for us. There is no time for sleeping,
you have to think of future and work on that in every field of your life.
That's why WAVE magazine is developing itself every month and becomes more
and more global. This time we have new correspondents from Slovakia, Denmark,
Pakistan, Malaysia... and now our project is closing to its most important goal
- international youth cooperation all over the world. We are happy to see so many
people interested to join our crew, and we will keep working on that, as well
as on some international projects. But our readers are here to say if we are on
the right way.
A little country on the North of Europe was in the middle
of media attention last month. Iceland is the first country where the government
has fallen down because of global financial crisis. We have our friend in Reykjavik
to tell you how that looks like. In Politics we have covered the whole world map
with stories about Danish political parties, military coups in Africa and challenges
of new US president foreign policy. Let's see if our predictions will be right.
Society brings you a very interesting article on conference that should be held
in EU parliament in Brussels - about "Smoking bans and lies". But it
wasn't. Check out why. If you like cave secrets, read about speleology youth club
from Slovakia, and if you are interested in Italian politics through rock music,
there is something for you also. St.Valentine's comes in February, read about
teenagers' thoughts on this. Documentary film festival "Magnificient Seven"
was held in Belgrade, and from Serbia also comes a story about dancing group "Tribalica".
Science & Tech comes from Brazil this time - about new website of US White
House and Campus Party in Sao Paolo. Australian Open was among the most important
sports events but we also tell you about traditional archery that is very popular
in Pakistan. Finally, find some entertainment in interview with new "Girl
next door" from the Netherlands. Enjoy your reading!
