After government's fall - as a result of global economic crisis
Iceland's
Shortcut to EU The idea of Iceland`s
EU association has been actual for a while, for Brussels` officials consider the
EU enlargement to the "farthest northern European border" as one of
their important tasks. Commissioner Olli Rehn supports that idea, never missing
the opportunity to point out the significance of this small Northern Arctic country`s
association to community that already counts 27 members. Iceland`s economic downfall,
as well as the collapse of their national currency krona caused by global financial
crisis, has influenced political elite in Reykjavik to consider that option...

Politics
The liberal rebels in Danish politics
Chances for newcomers
Within the last two years two new liberal parties have grown from
the soil of one of the oldest parties in the country - The Radical Left. The new
parties claim they want lower taxes, a better healthsystem, and a state that should
butt out of the population's private sfere. Experts claim they just want power.
The question remains whether they can gain influence or even survive in a political
system where the oldest parties continue to run the country... >>

New US diplomacy - Part One
Barack Obama's foreign policy challenges
After Bush's foreign policy, the American nation wanted a change
(it was not a coincidence, that change was Obama's campaign motto). But what are
the changes that we can accept from the new US president? The most exigent problem
of the new administration is the handling of the Iraqi war. During his campaign
Obama, said that until the summer of 2010 all the American troops will be withdrawn.
In his opinion the real danger comes from the Taliban, so America's anti-terrorist
war has to be fought in Afghanistan... >>
Society Bureaucratic
circus in European Union Thinking
is forbidden We have been informed from European
Agenda that they cannot comment the cancellation of hosting TICAP (the
International Coalition against Prohibition) conference. In the Bureau of the
European Parliament, they say for Wave magazine that the decision has been made
according to the rights to use Parliament premises: "The events that are
taking place in our premises can under no circumstances have any commercial purpose
and they must not undermine Parliament's honour. Besides this, sponsorship is
strictly forbidden." The member organizations of TICAP assess this decision
as non-democratic. "The reasons such as "Parliament's honour" shows
that the Bureau has just been looking for an excuse for the oppression of those
who think unconventionally about passive smoking - that is, of those who consider
it to be a fraud, Cristoph Lovenich (FORCES Germany) says... >>
Speleology - interesting and dangerous hobby
The
cave secrets "One
meter of discovered field in Litlle Carpathian is more than 10 meters in High
Tatras. There are plenty of rocks, and these rocks are many times dangerous for
us. But how we (speleologists) talk, the caves have a live spirit. They are on
our side"... >>

The Magnificent Seven - European feature documentary film
festival Young
and Old This years' selection of seven films was sequenced
in a loosely thematic manner, with those more intimate, warm, human stories. (e.g.
Blind Loves by Juraj Lehotský, The Mother by Antoine Cattin and Pavel Kostomarov).
On the other hand, films such as Shake the Devil Off (by Peter Entell), All White
in Barking (by Marc Isaacs) and Gideon Koppel's Sleep Furiously all in their own
ways, dealt with societies put into changing times, when good old life is just
not good enough... >>
Interview: Zoran Popović, CEO of festival "Magnificient
Seven" "A
world designed to fit a man's needs" Unlike motion pictures,
especially American, which have a large media support, the documentary film in
our country, when it comes to current production, is limitated on narrow circles
of film professionals and a small number of passionate fans. That's why announced
programme is always covered with attractive misteries... >>
Interview: Dancing group "Tribalica", Belgrade
Ancient art of movements
When few cultures collide, and each of them possesses grandiose tradition, the
result is something vigorous and emphasized like Tribal Fusion Belly Dance. Cultures
of south and central Africa, Arabic countries and India have been mixing up for
a long time. Folklores of those countries connect at one point - the art of dance.
Popular and well-known name "belly dance" represents the whole spectrum
of game, public clothes and ways of living, and still, its focus is on the art
that is made by women who use nothing else but the movements of their own bodies.
As Ivo Andric wrote in his novel "Aska and a wolf", dancing is the most
restrained art, because it appears from itself and it does not need any additional
tools to be expressed... >>

The New WhiteHouse.gov "Change
has come to WhiteHouse.gov" Even though
the new website was celebrated by many people - like Tim O'Reilly, the Web 2.0
guru - a lot of criticism can be found on the web as well. Although texts are
published now in a blog platform, it doesn't mean it is a blog now. According
to specialists, at least two things are missing: 1. Comments. 2. Links to other
