"WAVE" No.29
March 2009

Editorial

Dear friends,

our beautiful girls, women, sisters, mothers... have had their own day again. Very nice, I hope you sent congratulations and some present probably. I did. And I am glad about them. But hm... when the men will start fighting for "men's human rights" and for the "International Men's Day"? Isn't it a discrimination? I still don't understand the phrase "female human rights". Ok, in Serbian it sounds much more nonsence (or stupid) but I thought women are human beings, too. Must be I was absent during that class... No hard feelings, I respect this holiday but it becomes boring listening to the same stories and the same complainings... Anyway, take care, it's Friday 13 again!

Our German friend and colleague Joachim has just arrived to Belgrade, for his free-lancing Balkan trip. He told me yesterday evening that WAVE magazine is a great project, that we have good articles, we are crossing borders, connecting people... And his conclusion was - you made an excellent product, now you have to find professional to sell it! He will write an article about our project for his German newspapers, so if you read it somewhere... Ok, he also mentioned some technical mistakes on our website... :)

Students are on the road again! We are bringing you the stories about protests in Denmark, Brazilian high education system and Serbian students standard. Second part of Serbian way towards European Union is in Politics, as well as the article about U.S. Secretary of State visit to Japan. We keep writing on EU issues and this time it is about suspicion over journalists and fear of spies in European Commission. In Society we also have stories about Belgrade debate tournament and project Model OSCE 2009. We decided to write about March 8th in a different way, telling you about problem of violence against women. Our new Italian correspondent writes about British economics problem. In Culture & Arts you will find exhibition of Italian comics, for its 100th Birthday, an interview with choreographer Vera Obradovic and film review of Zone of the Dead. Science & Tech is about Facebook privacy and fear of bloggers in Italy and Sport is telling you about biathlon World Championship. Entertainment for the end has a story about Slovenian music scene.

Enjoy your reading!
