The era of I-witnesses When
Ayatolla Ali Khameni, the Supreme Leader of Iran, in the due course of events
forbade public criticism and journalists found it increasingly hard to cover the
protests, global media had to turn to DEMOTIX for footage, while unprofessional
eyewitnesses were sending out thier observations through networking tools such
as Twitter, Facebook, Google's instant messenger tool and others for covering
the events in the streets. I-reports, I-witnesses, street journalists and amateurs
made it obvious that journalism can reach beyond boundaries, limitations and restrictions

2006 by Obvious Corp., Twitter user base has grown a lot since then. There are
millions of users worldwide - in Brazil, for example, it is the second most popular

Animal conservation mostly based on look Is
charisma all in this decisive beauty contest?
Iconography linked to pandas symbolizes all that is wrong in the typical human
approach to nature, in which the animals that interest in preserving are the 'cute',
'huggable' and charismatic. The species we recognize as worthy of priority attention
are not necessarily those whose extinction would produce a dire unbalance on earth.
We are damning innumerable other species and entire ecosystems simply because
the general public does not gravitate towards them at the zoo. If this continues
at the scale of one hundred and fifty species going extinct per day, this planet
will soon be home for only a few species. To achieve the 2010 target to reduce
biodiversity loss, governments and communities should change and broaden their
conservation programmes. But are they?... >>

The obligatory question about Rafael Nadal's absence from the draw was bound to
come up, and when it did, Roger said he didn't feel the situation diminished his
achievement by one iota. "I don't think it should," he said. "Everybody
expected (Andy) Murray to be in the finals. He wasn't there. It's not the mistake
of the one who wins in the end... You never know how he (Rafa) would have played,
but it's sad he couldn't even give it a fair chance. Tennis moves very quickly,
you know"... >>
