No.35 September 2009 Editorial
Dear friends, recently
it was an anniversary - 70 years since the beginning of World War II, when Germany
attacked Poland and started the world conflict. Books say the war has started
without declaring, so the defenders were not ready. Can you imagine today, in
the age of all those communication channels, that someone is not informed on such
a big news? I guess not, that's why experts predict the next "wars"
are about to happen on the World Wide Web and they will be more destructive than
ever. You don't believe them? Well, maybe they are overreacting but anyway, take
care of yourself and your computer. That's the strongest weapon ever.
Maybe
you noticed recently that little "W" in your browser line when you enter
our homepage. Well, that's only one of our innovations and actions we did to optimize
our website. It's all because we want to be more readers-friendly, to help you
find easier what you need and to feel comfortable while reading WAVE magazine.
Very
actual topic for all of us recently was European Young Journalist Award. Final
conference was held in Berlin and it is our Topic of September. In Politics you
will find two stories on elections - Japanese, that we announced last month and
Romanian, that are about to come. Society brings you an article on journalism
and press freedom in Somalia, as well as rules of online communication. International
Finance Corporation has presented results of its research "Doing Business
2010". Find out who are the top reformers in Economics. In Culture &
Arts there is Romanian heritage - beautiful monasteries, and International Festival
of Street Artists was held in Novi Sad, Serbia. Science & Tech are about global
warming and anniversary of world wide web and Sport tells you about World athletics
championship and announcing new season of UEFA Champions League. Last but not
least, we bring you exclusive interview with Mallory, kiteboarder and story about
exhibition on coffee throughout history.
Enjoy
your reading! Marko Andrejiæ Editor-in-Chief
