Editorial
Dear friends,
at the moment
of writing this editorial, Serbia is (together with Montenegro and FYR Macedonia)
only one hour far from visa liberalization and from free travel to the European
Union and Schengen area countries. This is a huge change and a great achievement
to people here, that our friends and colleagues abroad maybe can't understand
from their point of view but the fact that this is happening after 18 years of
"Visa Wall" says enough, I guess. That's why WAVE magazine asked His
Excellency Ambassador Vincent Degert, Head of the Delegation of European Union
to Serbia, for the interview at the final issue of 2009, and thanks to him
and to people from the Delegation, we bring you this exclusive content. I hope
you will enjoy reading it and that you will understand the importance of the whole
European integration process for the citizens of Serbia.
This time I won't
say anything about our work on improvement of WAVE website because we started
working hardly on this issue and some people say it's not very lucky if you're
talking about the actual process. But don't worry, it will be fine (and better)!
Topic
of December is relation of EU and Serbia, and the most actual news - visa liberalization
and new season of the European Young Journalist Award 2010. Very actual topic
in last two weeks was also Conference on Climate Changes in Copenhagen and we
have commentary on that in Politics section. Also, our colleague from Germany
wrote about Internet censorship in Middle East, and activities of ruling regimes
there. FarmVille has become very popular game on Facebook, so we decided to explore
that a little bit in Society section, but also to investigate the position of
teachers and professors today. Economics section brings you a part of the story
on Greek economic situation and Culture & Arts are dedicated to Sevilla European
Film Festival and there is also an interview with Andrea Arnold, film director.
Science & Tech brings you a story about the most popular websites in this
year - it is about Google Zeitgeist 2009, but also trying to explain how you can
recognize the language of baby's crying. Sport is all about football, draw for
World Cup and controversial match in European Play Offs between France and Ireland.
Last, but not least, in Entertainment there is a story about a girl who decided
to study circus school and become flotant, and about new instant celebrities and
phenomena of reality show.
