The Association of Hispanists,

in Belgrade, welcomed the New Year in work atmosphere: on January 15th they

the realization of "Days of Hispanism" project and new workshops

they celebrate their second birthday. After only two years, by joining
energy and knowledge young hispanists have successfully realized dozens important
projects which had the aim to promote hispanism in Serbia and increase
the quality of Spanish language and Hispanic literatures education. Lead by
that idea, they spread their activities into six sections gathering more than
100 members and created a network of institutions and associations with whom they
cooperate successfully. The beginning 2010 is marked by the beginning of the
cooperation with WAVE magazine.

of Hispanists, with whom they exchange information, cooperate on seminars and

-
Since our foundation till today, together we have managed to start standing on
our own feet, to stand tall and to start walking... and we didn't stay mute either!
We have started talking in time and now it's without a stutter and we fluently
communicate with the world around us. Isn't that confirmed by the events we have
realized so far and don't they suggest an even more successful and more exciting
future? - says Jelena Kristić who shares the presidency over the Association
of Hispanist with Hristina Vasić.
In spreading the spirit of hispanism
the sections of this association mutually complete each other: cultural and
information, journalism, methodology, translation, student internships and
the forerunner of the Association itself, The Moved Theatre (Pomereni teatar).
The first "move" began with Lorca's farce "The Puppet Play of
Don Cristobal", directed by Hristina Vasić.
- The more we spent
time with Lorca's marionettes the more clear was their whispering sense of our
movement - Anita Dervišovski, coordinator of methodology section, remembers
the beginning.
- The Association develop from the need to share our experience,
resulted from the contact with the rich Hispanic culture, with the Serbian audience.
At the same time, united by the idea of spreading of hispanism and motivated by
the success of our first projects, we have found the way to improve ourselves
as individuals, through research activities - says for WAVE magazine Sanja
Panjesković, the editor of "Reflejo", an official magazine
of the Association of hispanists.
THE
MOVED THEATRE prepares plays in Spanish and the first in line was "The
Puppet Play of Don Cristobal", performed in the Hall of the Heros at
Faculty of Philology, as a part of the cultural program of the Cervantes Institute.
Next they performed "After Sun", written by an Argentinian Rodrigo
Garsia, and "The Moved theatre" achieved a great success by organizing
Histrion festival in July 2008 in SCC. The project included seven theatre
crews with performances in six roman languages. Five foreign lectors from universities
in Serbia and more than 50 students participated in the project.
- The
next project of "The moved theatre" is a new international student Histrion
festival which would, as a biannual event, offer the Belgrade audience a unique
opportunity to get to meet the dramatic works written in roman languages and 12
theatre crews would participate - says Hrisitina Vasić.
CULTURE
AND INFORMATION SECTION organizes literary evenings suche as the lecture dedicated
to Argentinean writer Julio Cortazar or the lecture on the topic of "Half
of century of Cuban revolution - results and perspectives", done in the
cooperation with the Yugoslavian Association of Latin Americans and which
had very respectable speakers. In the pleasant atmosphere of Belgrade restaurants
and clubs they organized cultural evenings dedicated to Argentina, Mexico, Columbia
and Cuba and it attracted a lot of visitors and media attention. The section is
working hard on the project called "Days of Hispanism" where
they will have a great support of the Embassy of Spain.
METHODOLOGY
SECTION is dedicated to bettering of Spanish language teaching. One of their
projects is a school of Spanish language for children in "Mihajlo Petrovic
Alas" elementary school in Belgrade. In cooperation with Nature museum
in Belgrade during "European Heritage days", a creative workshop
of Spanish language was held and then also a New Year's workshop. Over 20 professors
have passed through this practical program based on application of creative methods
in teaching. The priorities of the methodology section in 2010 are project
"Little schools of Spanish language", creative workshops during
well-known Spanish holidays and work on creating after school day care which would
include learning Spanish. For these practical programs the methodology section
got financial aid from the Embassy of Spain.
STUDENT INTERNSHIPS SECTION

journalism, translation, culture). Upon completion students-volunteers obtain
a certificate of completed internship in a company or an institution with whom
AH cooperates.
The main goal of the TRANSLATION SECTION is practical

on getting the culture of Hispanic world closer to the reading public here by

section and organization of conferences and seminars which deal with different
perspectives of translation. During last year a literary evening "Ninety
minutes of conversation with Luis Garcia Montero" was organized and the
visitors had a chance to personally meet this Spanish poet and essayist. Translations
of this sections are published on AH website under the e-Translations tab
as well as in "Reflejo", AH magazine. The section is diligently
working on preparing the translation of Spanish short stories which are planned
to be published in 2010.
