If you want to wind down and relax, and you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy city like Jakarta, why not going to the Thousand Island area? Also known as Pulau Seribu, this Thousand Island tourism has grown and developed far better than you have known. Most people may prefer going to Lombok, Bali, or Sulawesi to enjoy the natural heaven on earth but if you don’t want to go too far from Jakarta, you can always go to Pulau Seribu. Don’t worry, this area can offer you a lot of perks and benefits – pampering you with the luxuries and facilities.
Don’t be fooled by the term Thousand Island. The small islands are many and they are scattered around the area, but they don’t reach more than 200. But you can be sure that they are all peaceful and quiet so you can find a lot of Thousand Island tourism resorts. But mind you that you can’t visit all the 150 islands. Only 45 of them are opened for tourist’s objects. And not all of them can be used for rent or accommodation. From the 45 available islands, only 6 of them have decent accommodations – ranging from home stays to private resorts and villas. So, which island can you go to?
- Ayer. If you go to Ayer from Ancol, it will take you 25 minutes to reach the island. The island itself has a lot of accommodation – most of them are pretty nice. It also has sheltered beaches. If you want to come to the biggest resort here, you can enjoy the wooden cabins hanging over the edge of water. These cabins are the big ones while the smaller ones are available on land. Swimming pool is a common and pretty standard facility. You can go on a banana boat for amusement or rent a canoe, Jet Ski, or bike to have fun and explore the island.
- Bidadari. This is one of the most popular Thousand Island tourism island. If you take off from Ancol, it will take you 15 minutes to reach the area. Bidadari is often used as corporate events or companies retreat so there are two big conference centers there. If you are looking for bars, restaurants, or discotheques, you should be able to find them easily on this island. This is one of the busiest islands in this area.
- Kotok. This island is a bit farther from the previous two places. When compared to Bidadari, the atmosphere in Kotok is a bit relax and not as busy as Bidadari. Because it is farther from Jakarta, the water is clear with intact coral. It would be the best place for diving. Besides bars and restaurants, there are also a lot of dive shops. It is a diving heaven. You will feel as if on a private island if you come here.
